We said farewell to CEO Barbara Kaminsky when she retired at the end of April after 22 years. As we undertake the search for a new Executive Director, we are pleased to announce that Faye Wightman will join the Canadian Cancer Society British Columbia and Yukon division as Interim Executive Director (ED) on Monday, May 16.
Faye comes to the Society with over 30 years of experience making a difference in the lives of Canadians. Throughout her career she has worked with local, provincial and national organizations, helping them hone their skills and achieve a higher level of excellence. She has hands-on knowledge of philanthropy, board governance, government relations and coaching/mentoring, and has received a number of awards for her achievements.
For 8 years Faye served as President & CEO of Canada’s largest community foundation, the Vancouver Foundation. Under her leadership, the Foundation was seen as a vital part of the social fabric of the province. Faye was instrumental in creating programs to address some of the region’s most pressing issues, including community and cultural isolation and labour market challenges facing the charitable sector.
Faye has extensive not-for-profit leadership experience having served in executive-level roles at the University of Victoria, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Children’s & Women’s Health Centre of BC and Sunny Hill Health Center Foundation for Children.
We look forward to working with Faye as we build a strong future for the Canadian Cancer Society.
